This event gives the directors of the future the opportunity to exhibit their work on a big cinema screen as well as receive feedback from leading members of the New Zealand film industry.
The first of our judges this year is NZ film pioneer Geoff Murphy (dir. Goodbye Pork Pie, The Quiet Earth and Utu).
The event culminates with the awards chosen by our industry judges, including Best Film and Acting. Gift packs are also given to all finalists chosen for screening. Prizes last year included DVD and CD gift packs from LOOP Recordings and a 30Gb iPod from Protel.

NZ YOUNG FILMMAKERS AWARDS FINALISTS SCREENING
The finalists of the 2007 NZ Young Filmmakers Awards will be screened at Wellington's Paramount Theatre on Tuesday 9 October at 6.30pm followed by the presentation of awards for Best Film, Best Actor, Special Merit, Technical Achievement and Audience Choice. Wellington band Uncle Monkey will perform live on the night, to be hosted by Billy T Award nominee Jerome Chandrahasen.
Ten films were selected form thirty entries by aspiring young filmmakers all over New Zealand. Legendary NZ filmmaker Geoff Murphy (Goodbye Pork Pie, Utu) will select the award winners. This is your chance to catch some of the youngest filmmaking, acting and musical talent in New Zealand.

The NZ Young Filmmakers Awards (previously the Young Filmmakers Showcase) is NZ's longest-running film competition for school students. It provides the opportunity for our future filmmakers to share their creative efforts in a supportive environment, receive feedback from industry professionals, and to meet other like-minded individuals.
